As you may be aware, on-court coaching was permitted on a trial basis at the Youth Olympic Games and ITF Junior Masters in 2018. I am writing to inform you that this trial will be continued in 2019 and extended to chaired matches at all tournaments of Grade A and Grade 1 level on the 2019 ITF World Tennis Tour Juniors, subject to the following conditions:
Coaching can take place only once per set, during a changeover
The coach must be certified by his/her National Association or by the ITF
The coach must register with the Supervisor at the beginning of the tournament
The ITF Juniors Committee and ITF Coaches Commission believe that having access to a coach for a limited time during matches could improve players’ ability to manage the pressures of match play, improve players’ tactical awareness and generally improve the standard of play on the ITF World Tennis Tour Juniors.
